Jess Johnson has been practicing criminal defense for nearly 20 years. He represents clients in federal courts across the country and is licensed to represent clients in state court in Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Georgia.
Jess has earned a reputation as a fierce advocate for clients facing complex criminal charges, particularly in cases involving alleged sex offenses. He is also recognized as one of the few attorneys with significant experience defending clients with autism and intellectual disabilities.
Jess has represented elected officials, prominent businessmen, judges, government employees, whistleblowers, and everyday individuals in complex investigations, trials, and appeals. He has obtained dismissals, acquittals, and some of the lowest sentences possible in both federal and state court.
Jess’s philosophy in practicing law focuses on three things: client attention, hard work, and results. He also understands that in today’s age it is critical to use cutting edge technology, respected experts, and hard-nosed investigators to fight back effectively against the government. In every case, he is dedicated to ensuring that no stone is left unturned.
Jess has won two federal criminal jury trials (a rare feat) and multiple state court jury trials. He is routinely selected as a Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers Magazine, and he is often asked to speak at legal seminars to other attorneys.
Jess graduated first in his class from the University of Georgia in 2006 before graduating from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2009. After law school, Jess partnered with renowned trial attorney Page Pate before founding Johnson / Citronberg with Cary Citronberg.
